Dr. Ibrahim Mike Okumu is a Development Economist with expertise in public finance, informal economy, firm level analysis, inequality, economic growth, economic development and public sector governance. His research experience has involved understanding the integral role of an effectively functioning public sector on: private sector development; quality of public expenditure; tax evasion; fiscal consolidation; informal economy; income inequality; and a country’s economic growth and economic development. He has also recently undertaken firm level analysis about tax evasion, productivity, innovation, employment growth, Regional Trade Agreements and Export performance among manufacturing firms in Africa. He has also undertaken household level analysis about Universal Primary Education and malaria prevalence in Africa. He is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, Makerere University. He is also a Associate Researcher at both the Economic Policy Research Center and Center for Basic Research in Uganda. He is also a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Dynamic Macroeconomic Analysis, University of St Andrews. He holds a PhD in Economics of the University of St Andrews (United Kingdom), MA Economics of McMaster University (Canada) and BA Economics of Makerere University (Uganda).
